Marcus Vinícius de Abreu Sampaio

Has practised litigation and preventive law since 1984, beginning his career as a judicial clerk at the First Court of Civil Appeals of São Paulo.

He earned his Master's degree in 1992 with the thesis “The Judge's General Power of Precautionary Measures”, published the following year by Editora Revista dos Tribunais. In 2022 he earned his Doctorate with the thesis “Divergence Appeals and the Binding Force of Their Decisions”.

He is the author of numerous articles in journals specialising in Civil Procedural Law and teaches the subject at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC/SP), at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

He sits on the editorial board of the Revista de Processo (Editora Revista dos Tribunais); the International Institute for the Sociology of Law in Oñati, Spain; the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law (IBDP); the Pan-American Institute of Procedural Law (IPDP); the executive board and the advisory and audit councils of the Brazilian Institute of Legal Sciences (IBCJ); and is a full member of the Human Rights Committee of the São Paulo Bar Association (OAB/SP).

He has been with Abreu Sampaio Advocacia since 1984, working chiefly in Corporate, Civil, Civil Procedural, Commercial, Company and Public law.
